In 1979, Gary Turner, one of the founding fathers of mountain biking, started GT Bikes. Like many brands, GT Bikes needed a design that would both separate them from the masses of similar looking bikes. For their mountain bikes, this meant the familiar “Triple Triangle” frame design still found on some of their hardtails today.

GT Bikes is also widely renowned for the BMX bikes, which include a top tube that extends slightly past the seat tube.
