Description: What TheCyclePeople say: You don’t need to spend a fortune to get into mountain biking, but you shouldn’t have to settle either. A sturdy frame, upright riding position, front suspension, and some aggressive rubber is all you need to get started.
Take the 2009 Kona Lana’i, for instance. While other brands might offer steel for their entry level frames, Kona uses their own 7000 series butted alloy tubing, for a lighter, yet comfortable ride. There’s also a Suntour triple crank for making hills a little easier to climb, and a Suntour suspension fork for taking the edge off the rough stuff. Combine that with a Shimano 8 speed drivetrain, and you’ve got a fun ride off the beaten path.
Available in sizes 14", 16", 18", 20", and 22", the Lana’i should provide plenty of good times and reliable service.
