Description: What TheCyclePeople say: The 2009 Scott Contessa Scale is an outstanding example of women's specific design. It starts with a frame comprised of 7005 double butted and hydroformed tubes. The hydroforming process allows for tubing of unusual shape to provide strength and stiffness where it's needed, while the double butting means the tubes are thinner in the middle, to save weight. A RockShox Reba fork provides 100mm of travel. The shifters are Shimano SLX 9 speed units, providing a total of 27 gears. They're mated to Shimano XT derailleurs front and rear. The brakes and levers are Avid Juicy 3.5, with 160mm discs at both ends. The stiff and light crankset is Shimano's SLX Hollowtech II. Rims are Alex XC-44, laced with DT Swiss Champion spokes to a Shimano rear hubs and Scott front. The handlebars, stem, and seatpost are Scott's house brand, while the saddle is a Fizik Vitesse Sport and the pedals are Shimano PD-505 clipless. Rounding it all out are a Ritchey headset and Schwalbe Rocket Ron Performance Series rubber. Like all models across the Scale range, it's light and stiff, goes where you point it, and gets high marks in technical sections. It just happens to be designed with female riders in mind.
