Description: What TheCyclePeople say: If you?re looking for a good little dirt jumper of a BMX bike that?s easy on the wallet but suitable for kids that are hard on their gear, check out the 2009 Mongoose Brawler. While the frame is not 100% cromo, the front triangle is. That should provide some extra durability where it?s needed most. Speaking of durability, the three piece cranks are cromo as well, just like the forks. Plenty of strength built into the parts that take the most abuse. Since this bike is built for jumping, it makes sense that it should have a stout wheelset. The rims are Alex, with a 36 hole up front, and a 48 out back. Both have 14mm axles, and the rear hub is a cassette hub with a 12 tooth driver. Rounding out the drivetrain is a 33 tooth chainring. Since there?s no need for a front brake, stopping power is provided by a Tektro U-brake out back, actuated by a Rush RX3.0 lever. (Note that a front brake may be fitted to meet safety requirements in some markets) Hit the jumps with confidence on this bike. It strikes a good balance between quality spec and affordability.
