It needs to be able to climb hills as well as hold up to big jumps and drops. The 2009 Lapierre Froggy 518 meets those requirements and more. The Shimano Saint crankset with 22T and 36T chainrings, combined with a Saint Shadow nine speed 11-34 rear cassette offers a gearing range wide enough to suit most needs. Shifting is done by Shimano?s new SLX shifters. Of course, being able to pedal up and over obstacles is only half the battle. The beautifully crafted frame includes an oversized headtube for extra stiffness and steering precision from the Fox 36 fork. The rear suspension?s 180mm of travel is extra plush, thanks to the Fox DHX Air 4.0 shock. Alex FR32 hoops wrapped in 26x2.40 Continental Rubberqueen?s provide plenty of traction, while the Formula Oro disc brakes handle the stopping chores with ease. Syncros, makers of high-end DH and freeride gear, provide the cockpit, seatpost, and saddle. Available in two sizes, (43 and 48, measured at the seat tube) the Froggy 518 is built for all day, all terrain fun.
