Description: Six inch travel frames used to be for downhill racing, now it?s practically standard on any backcountry bike. The 2009 Kona Dawg Supreme is a perfect example. Accompanying the Fox suspension at both ends is the highly regarded Mavic Crossmax ST wheelset.
With more suspension travel than necessary for XC, this bike is much better suited for exploring the rougher, rockier trails found far off the beaten path. And since reliability counts ever more when you?re in the middle of nowhere, there?s a full Shimano XT drivetrain, including XT hydraulic discs, and an XTR rear derailleur. Good stuff.
Available in sizes 15", 17", 18", 19", 20", and 22", you?ll need a full downhill bike and a lift ticket if you want to go any bigger.
